The Pollution Control Board has decided to set up 24-hour state-of-the-art air quality monitoring stations in 25 cities at a cost of Rs 50 crore to monitor air quality in these areas and the remaining district capitals. The stations are the new Municipal Corporations of Kanchipuram, Avadi, Tambaram, Kumbakonam, the missing district capitals of Dharmapuri, Nagercoil, Perambalur, Sivagangai, Theni, Tiruvarur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Erode, Thiruvallur, Krishnagiri, the new district capitals of Kallakurichi, Mayiladuthurai, Thenkasi, Tirupattur, Chengalpattu and Pallavaram. , Karaikudi, Rajapalayam, Ambur, Neyveli to be set up in 25 cities.

The Pollution Control Board has said that it will provide real-time information and facilities for the public to know about them.
